Next Best Arsenal Manager
Arsenal have truly had one of the worst falls from grace. A club that once used to be a regular top 4 competitor is now struggling to get into a European spot. Mikel Arteta, current manager, has had a questionable season and a half. His job isn’t under scrutiny currently but his time is running out. Arsenal should consider this candidate as their best option to have a shot at returning to their Glory days.
Graham Potter ( Brighton )
Graham Potter has caught the eye of the media in recent times due to how his side Brighton & Hove Albion play. His team is known for underperforming xG massively, creating tons of chances, and also setting up very well defensively.
Defensively: Graham Potter is usually known for his attacking football but his defensive methods often go unnoticed. This season only Man City (25.7) and Chelsea (27.9) have conceded fewer quality chances than Brighton (33.2). For a team that sits 17th in the table, they have only conceded 41 goals. Comparing to other sides, they have conceded lesser goals than Leicester City (3rd), West Ham (5th), and Everton (9th). For a club the size of Brighton, this achievement is quite the big one and Potter should be credited for this.
Even though Arsenal have conceded 3 lesser goals than Brighton, Graham Potter surely could do a better job with the players and financial backing of a club the size of Arsenal.
Offensively: Brighton play quite entertaining football and create tons of chances but his side misses a lot of them. Now you can credit Potter for his side’s chances created due to his system, but can’t blame the poor finishing on him. If he had the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre – Emerick Aubameyang, and Bulayo Saka, his side would’ve had scored much more. Arsenal attackers ( these 3 ) have a combined output of 36 goals scored in one of their worst seasons ever. Compare this to Brighton’s top contributors Neil Maupay, Leandro Trossard, and Pascal Groẞ who have a combined of 31 goal contributions.
His side is also known for their massive underperforming xG differential potential p90 of +0.45. This ranks them 5th in the Premier League, ahead of Leicester, Tottenham, and West Ham.
Next Best Arsenal Manager: Verdict
Arsenal should definitely approach him and start the talks as soon as possible. He is rumored to have caught the eye of their rivals Spurs and Arsenal shouldn’t waste any time. He is clearly the man who can pull Arsenal out of their current crisis. If he is given the financial backing and support from the management, Arsenal could return to their elite days. He could finally be the true replacement of Arséne Wenger
