Targets to Acquire : Arsenal

Targets to Acquire : Arsenal

Arsenal have had a better second half of the season, but it still isn't good enough. For competing in the top 4, major changes needs to be made. A few major signings and sellings need to be made in order for a proper rebuild to take place. In this article, I'll be covering upon 3 major signings which need to be made during the summer of 2021. Now these signings may be a bit unrealistic but some frequent rumours may suggest a slight chance of them taking place.

Position : Right Back (RB)

A player in this position should be a priority signing for Arsenal. Considering the form Hector Bellerin has been and the rumours which suggest his exit, they really need to dive into the market and bring in a new signing. Cedric is always an option but should remain as the backup right back and considering Callum Chambers injury prone state and lack of game time, I would still suggest for the Gunners to look outside of their own club for this one.

Target : Tariq Lamptey

Tariq Lamptey had recently caught the eye of the media for his brilliant performances for Brighton. At the age of 20, the young fullback showed quite the potential in his 11 performances scoring 1 and assisting 1. Defensively, he averages 1.5 tackles per game, 1.7 interceptions and 0.8 clearances per 90 which trumps Bellerin's 1 tackle per game, 1.1 interceptions and 1.3 clearances per 90.  Offensively, he offers 0.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game which is better than all three right backs. He also tends to make a lot of overlapping runs and Saka and him would make a deadly duo on the right flank. His age is also a great factor as even if it takes a season for him to get in rhythm, he'll definitely be one for the future.  Having a market value of 18 million euros and having a contract till 2025, he'll cost around 25-30 million and Arsenal should definitely look into it.

Position : CDM/CM

Considering Ceballos's inconsistency and loan expiring this summer, and Granit Xhaka being rumoured to exit as well, Arsenal should definitely look into acquiring a midfield partner for Thomas Partey. There's a rumour going around of them having bid around 20 million for Sande Berge but Sheffield are asking around 30 million. If this deal doesn't fall in place, here's my midfielder suggestion which they should acquire.

Target : André-Frank Zambo Anguissa

Anguissa has been one of the few shining lights in the newly relegated side, Fulham.  He has quite a similar play style to Thomas Partey and should contribute well both defensively & offensively. He averages 2.2 tackles per game,  1.4 interceptions and 0.4 clearances compared to Thomas Partey's ( 1.9 T , 1.1 int and 0.7 clr ) and Granit Xhaka's ( 1.6 T,  0.9 int and 1.1 clr). Offensively also he trumps both Granit Xhaka ( 0.5 keyp p90 and 0.3 dribbles p90) and Thomas Partey ( 0.7 keyp p90 and 1.2 dribbles p90) with 0.8 key pass per 90 and a massive 2.6 dribbles per 90. He will help progress the ball along with Thomas Partey and this could be the sturdy duo Arsenal's midfield requires. Having a market value of of 25 million euros, a contract till 2023 and Fulham's relegation which would see them sell him for funds, he should be bought within a range of 30-35 million euros.

Position : CAM

Arsenal have had a good run with attacking midfielders recently seeing Emile Smith Rowe performing brilliantly and Martin Ødegaard showing his gifts in bits too. However, it is likely that Ødegaard will remain a Real Madrid player next season and considering ESR's injury record, expecting him to play all the games could hamper his growth and form. Considering this, the Gunenrs should look into acquiring a winger/attacking midfielder who could play alongside Emile and his role.

Target : Jack Grealish

This is the superstar signing that Arsenal need! Now I know this one is quite unrealistic, but this needs to be one of the few major signings that the Kroenke's were talking about. Being an admirer of the player myself, words cant truly describe the magician this bloke is. Grealish has 17 g/a in 30 appearances this season and 16 g/a in 22 pl games. If it wasn't for injuries, he would've surely contended for the premier league player of the year trophy. Averaging 3 key passes, 2.6 dribbles and 3.4 chances per 90, he's surely the player to succeed Özil's legacy and might even better it.  He wouldn't even hamper ESRs gametime as he usually operates from the left hand side. Rumours are that Aston Villa are asking 80 million, the fee maybe a bit out of Arsenal's budget considering the very thin chance of Europe next season, but this would be one wonder signing if pulled off.
