Targets to Acquire : Leeds United
Leeds United have had quite the season, especially for a newly-promoted side. They are unbeaten at home against the big 6 and certainly put up a show every game. Leeds have proven that they’re here to stay, but they need a few signings to compete for Europe. In this article, we’ll be covering the areas they need to improve and who would be the feasible options.
Position: Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM)
Leeds need to integrate an energetic CAM into the team. They are heavily dependent on creation from the flanks by Raphinha and Jack Harrison. Pablo Hernández, although a legend to the team, might not have the stamina and fitness to fit into Bielsa’s team anymore, having also sat out most of the season anyway. Leeds need a bit more of Brazillian Magic to compete for Europe.
Targets to Acquire: Matheus Pereira
Matheus Pereira has arguably been one of the best players of the newly relegated side, West Bromwich Albion. While only considering base stats, He has 17 g/a ( 11 goals and 6 assists ) in only 30 premier league games. He averages 2 shots per game, 1.8 key passes, and 1.2 dribbles per game. He’s also quite versatile as he can be deployed left, right, and center in the midfield having played 13 games in the middle, 12 on the right, and 4 on left. The best part is he could be bought in for an estimated fee of between 15-20 million euros which is an absolute steal for the kind of player he is.
Position: Centre Back (CB)
This is another position which needs to be looked into by Leeds United. Their current center backs are good but Leeds are on route to Europe and need players which have had experience in European competitions. The center-back should also have the intensity required to play for a Leeds side.
Target to Acquire: Nico Elvedi
The 24-year-old Swiss has been a stonewall for an underperforming Borussia Mönchengladbach side. He averaged 1.7 tackles per game, 2.3 interceptions, and 4.1 clearances per game in the 28 Bundesliga games he played. His Champions League stats are quite the icing on the cake as he averaged 2.1 tackles per game, 1.6 interceptions, and 4.4 clearances per game. Keeping in mind they did have to face Real Madrid and Inter Milan in the group stage. His CL experience will come in handy for Leeds and he could be one of the core players of the Leeds rebuild. Having a market value of 32 million euros and a contract till 2024, he should cost Leeds a fee of 40-45 million euros.
Targets to Acquire: Jack Harrison
Jack Harrison is quite an obvious one. Rumors already suggest Leeds have already put in a bid for the Man City Loanee. Harrison has been a shining light for Leeds this season having scored 8 and assisted 8. He’s a regular starter and has established his place in Bielsa’s team. The rumor suggests a 15 million offer has been presented to Manchester City. Even though the sale will take place as he isn’t required in the City side, the deal will probably be of around 20-25 million euros.
